Claudia Doron über "River of Hope"

Hoffnung schenken. Das macht River of Hope !

Claudia Doron on "River of Hope"

"We all dream of peace, freedom, equality, justice and the end of hunger and ignorance. The realization of these dreams is partly possible, but we cannot change the world overnight. Instead, take small steps and one day at a time, setting an example for future generations.

Give hope. River of Hope does just that!

I founded together with my Ex-husband Jake and my father the small non-profit association “River of Hope” registered in Switzerland. We kicked-off the project in Congo in 2010 without a cent and 2 suitcases filled with 46kg of football material.

In December 2012, we purchased in Selo, Kasangulu, Bas Congo, in the outskirts of Kinshasa,    4ha land. In Spring 2013 we could straight away start the construction of the center" Talal Mosika " thanks to all the sponsors and foundations. It is hard to believe that in fall 2015, just after 2 ½ years we inaugurated our 7th building & 2 converted containers. Of course, we still have a lot planned but now the infrastructure is such that the program can start holistically. With the aim of stimulating the local economy with a micro-economic approach in order to achieve sustainability are already the first success stories. It clearly requires a lot of patience and time, training, and discussions with the local people. There needs to be a rethink, so that they can free themselves from the cycle of poverty with our assistance.

“River of Hope” in Buchs/SG, Schweiz gegründet.

Workshop in Kinshasa, DR Congo

Workshop & Coaching with my team in Congo. Where do we stand now, and where would we like to go. Important to find out what each department (School, Health Care, Kitchen, Agriculture etc) has to do to achieve the same goal. Working in teams and bringing them all together was a challenge but wonderful at the same time.

People themselves need to be the driving force of their own development,

otherwise non of the investments and inputs will bring lasting improvements.

Workshop in South Africa

I coached Gaby on how to break the ice with her team and rebuild trust "Gaby at 12th" in South Africa.

Gaby's Message: We had to break the ice and rebuild trust. To set expectations and facilitate the discussion, I introduced a card game called “Point of You”. This helped create an open team environment: how we felt about the last year, the present, and necessary actions to move forward.

We articulated our differences and similarities. Because of our common values & beliefs, we are strong. Because of our differences, we are creative.

Diversity and inclusion became the theme – how we could make the most of our collective life experiences, cultures, and drive to make a difference.

We laughed, cried, brainstormed and made plans for 2017/2018.

One thing is for sure – Gabi On 12th is going to be a success no matter what!
